Revitalizing Route 66: Tulsa Commission Offers Incentive Grants of Up to $40,000

As the home of the iconic Route 66, the Tulsa Route 66 Commission has launched a program offering grants of up to $40,000 for restoration and rehabilitation of historic facades along the famed street.

The funds become available through the Vision Tulsa Route 66 Revitalization Project and provide an incentive for business owners to restore their section of Route 66. Businesses cover the first half of improvement costs while the other half is funded through grants.

Jessica Jackson Seay, head of the Tulsa Route 66 Commission, expressed the Commission’s enthusiasm for the project. “We want to make it easier for people to restore these historical parts of what makes Tulsa such a unique city,” she said.

Requirements for the Grant

In order to qualify for the grant, businesses must have walls or premises facing Route 66 and the grant only covers repairs to the outside, including historic light fixtures, windows, and some roof repairs.

Full details and requirements of the grant can be found on the City of Tulsa website and businesses are encouraged to apply so they can take advantage of this amazing restoration opportunity.
